Love binds mother and daughter

September 16, 2010

Yvonne shows her love with a fidipidi card.

Hello, my name is Yvonne.

I am a part time student who’s working a full time job as a fidipidi customer advocate. As well, I am a devoted wife and mother! As I’m sitting in class my teacher told us to take a blast to our past and tell her who and what situation has inspired us to be who we are now. So, I did and it was awesome.

I can see the background slowing getting dark and fuzzy as I journey off to an awesome 90’s song as the memories come back to life. Oh yes the memories.

It was back in high school and I got asked out to the senior prom. Oh man, was I excited because I was only a sophomore. When I got home my mom asked me why I was so happy but I was scared to tell her. You see we weren’t financially stable at that time and I feared that money was going to be an issue. I finally decided to tell her in high hopes that she would be so happy that we would go shopping for my prom dress the next day. Yeah, that didn’t happen, my mom told me that we just couldn’t afford t o buy a prom dress.

It looked like I wouldn’t be able to go, unless…… I got a job. “What? me get a job?”  I thought she was crazy for even thinking that.  I was devastated, ok….. maybe I was a little too optimistic going in for the kill but being wishful is the only thing that would get me through such hard times.  That night I thought about whether or not a job was a good idea.

I kept remembering her facial expression when she mentioned me getting a job.  Ok mom, I can read between the lines. I’ll get a job to help you out. So that’s what I did, I got a part time job at KFC and loved it!! I felt so bad knowing that my mother had to do this alone for so many years but at the same time it was so motivating. I knew if she could do it then so could I. The sad part was that I didn’t get to go to prom that year. I had to work, but never did I regret it. Eventually my mom got a better job and didn’t need my help anymore but I loved working so I kept my job.

My life now is nowhere as difficult as my childhood and I owe it to my mom and for the whole experience for teaching me how to be a responsible person and how to put my priorities first.  Because of her I am who I am now, a women that is not afraid to go out in this world and accomplish my goal to be successful. Now that I’ve gone back in time it has made me realize how much I need to tell my mother how much I love her and what’s better than telling her in a fidipidi ” I LOVE YOU” card.  I hope she likes it!!!  :)   XOXO

Alex L. our fidipidi customer advocate

Alex...getting fit with fidipidi

That’s how much I weigh.  I’m looking to lose some weight for a contest here at work over the next three months.  I’m competing against roughly 77 people and the winner is selected based on the BMI percentage lost.

What an interesting way to grade ones’ personal weight loss achievements over another since different body types and weights factor into disproportionate scaling for athletes.  My BMI is 30.2, which, in general BMI scaling is obese.  I am 5 ft 7 in tall and just did a lot of weight lifting when I started college because I thought it was the cool thing to do.  It was the cool thing to do right?

I want to lose about 20 – 30 pounds during this competition; I’m just not sure if I have that much to lose.  I’ll update you bi-weekly and let you know how it’s going.  Oh yeah, I am a really competitive person who doesn’t like to lose, so I wish the best of luck to everyone and may the person with the most desire win.

Fidipidi Sweepstakes Winner Enjoys Reunion with Army Fiance’

August 27, 2010

When Danielle Thayer entered fidipidi’s National Sweepstake,  we don’t even think she knew just what she was in for if she won. Last Saturday, we reunited Danielle with her Army fiance’ Robert in a complete surprise at Ft. Eustis in Virginia. The emotion on his face spoke volumes as people cheered and took photos.

“The most memorable part of the reveal was seeing his face when he walked in,” said Danielle. “It’s really hard to surprise him, so it was even more incredible.”

Following the “reveal” Danielle and Robert had the rest of the weekend to themselves. Now, we know inquiring minds are interested in just what Danielle and Robert were up to, so fidipidi went straight to our winner and asked.

Danielle and Robert enjoy Yankee Candle Store

Weekend of Fun…

They started out their weekend jaunt by going into Yorktown and riding the incredible trolley that Saturday. After visiting several quaint shops, they ventured back to the Omni Hotel for the evening. Sunday was exceptionally packed. They drove out to Jamestown and walked through the museum and around the fort after which they went on the ships Susan Constance, Discovery and Godspeed.

Following their time on the ships and lunch, they headed to Williamsburg and went to the Ripley’s Believe it or Not Museum and 4D theatre. Then came what Danielle called her “most fun” thing on the trip – going to the Yankee Candle Store.

“We made owl ornaments for our Christmas Tree and we did the wax hands of ours together,” said Danielle. “We even got a cookie cutter there in the shape of an owl so that I can make cookies for our wedding.”

In case you were wondering, Danielle and Robert love owls and that will be an intricate part of their wedding. Everyone knows what a challenge it was getting Danielle from Atlanta to Newport News that it comes as no surprise to find out that Danielle missed her original flight home on Sunday and had to fly back on Monday.

Guess she just couldn’t get enough of a good thing. Regardless, we are happy you won Danielle and look forward following you through your wedding day in early October.

iPad Winner Loves fidipidi

August 19, 2010

Ganita...our iPad Winner!

When we launched our national Me-Mail Me sweepstakes, we had every intention of having a one really great winner, but as we thought about it more and more, we decided to launch our referral contest and giveaway a brand, new iPad.

As most of you know, Ganita Koonopakarn of Los Angeles, California was our winner. She is an extremely busy person who is an entrepreneur/investor, accomplished photographer and a model/actress. How she found time to promote fidipidi was beyond us…but she did and did it well.

“Who wouldn’t want an opportunity to win $2500 and a free trip?” With the economy right now, I know a lot of people who could sure use that cash!,” said Ganita. “I’m a big believer in taking advantage of *all* opportunities that come your way. The chances are much better if you TRY versus if you don’t!

Notably, Ganita not only thought the sweepstakes was a cool idea, but also fidipidi in general.

“After I saw for myself how easy it was to use the Fidipidi application–I wanted my friends to take advantage of the 1st card free promotion. I like that many of the cards have a very modern sense of humor, they definitely aren’t your typical cheesy greeting cards. I almost cried laughing at the breakup ones,” said Ganita.

She even had her own fidipidi experience and loved it!

“As a photographer, I’m already obsessed with photographs–so getting to personalize a card with my own photos was a real treat. I tried the application out using the “1stCardFree” promo code to make a free birthday card for my mom!,” said Ganita. “The cool thing was, I was just in Chicago a week ago (where my mom lives) and got to see how the card turned out in person; I was thrilled! It was on a very good quality card stock w/ glossy finish and everything. Thanks for helping me put a smile on my mom’s face!”

Fidipidi wants to thank everyone who entered the Me-Mail Me sweepstakes and for Ganita and her efforts. Enjoy your iPad!
